You will be amazed with what you can do once you have a Nintendo Wii mod chip. You will be able to install a range of applications on your Nintendo Wii to add new functionality.
On top of been able to play copied games or games you have downloaded from the internet; a Nintendo Wii mod chip will add additional functionality. One of my personal favourites is the ability to download emulators for the SNES, Megadrive and Playstation to name a few and kick back with my favourite classic games.
You can watch DivX/XviD video files through your Nintendo Wii with help from the media centre app. By using the WiiMote you will have access to a full archive of your movies, tv series and music.
There are 2 differents types of Nintendo Wii mod chip available-
Hard Mod chip - You can pickup a mod chip for roughly $50, this will require physically soldering the mod chip into place. This is extremely difficult and should not be attempted if you do not have any experience with soldering, alternatively you could pay for someone to install it.
Soft Chip - You can buy these for $30 and the soft chip does everythin a mod chip does. Unlike a mod chip, the soft chip is a programme you just load onto your Nintendo Wii. Put simply, the soft chip is cheaper, does not requie profesional installation and you could chip your Wii in less than 20 minutes form now
I have been using the soft chip for a few months now, and am more than happy with it. The automated setup process is a breeze, and if you struggle video instructions are provided as well. You can also uninstall the soft chip if your Nintendo Wii became faulty and needed to be repaired under warranty.
Forget Nintendo Wii mod chips, the soft chip is what you need.
The HomeBreWare Soft Chip is the cheapest to buy, and comes with free life time updates and support
