Amazon announced their new Kindle DX system earlier on this year and they started shipping the item in June. This new version has a few extra features than its predecessor which was released almost two years ago.
Larger Screen & Thinner
For starters the Kindle DX has a larger screen which is made from an E-Ink display. This distinguishes the screen from reading on say, a computer or an iPod touch. This device is also extremely thin and about the thickness of your ordinary magazine. However do not be fooled by the size because you can store a lot more books and documents in that slim frame.
Native PDF Reader
Unlike the earlier version, you no longer have to worry about converting your Portable Document Format (PDF) documents before you can upload them and read them. This one comes with Native PDF reader support already installed, so you just upload your documents and can easily read them.
Rotating Display
Another cool feature they have added on that I rather like is the rotating display. You know the same feature that Apple has on its iPod touch and iPhone where if you rotate the display the display actually rotates too and you can see your documents in a wider resolution when the device is on its side.
Now they are features that they have thrown in there that are still kind of primitive. For example they have included a Web browser which still needs some work on it. Also the text to speech function is included but I also think that this needs a little more work.
The price may seem a little steep to the ordinary avid book reader. However for the business people, professionals and academics the Kindle DX maybe a better option as compared to the other versions.
